Joan has been a CPA for over 30 years and works in the areas of corporate, partnership and individual taxes and business planning. She also works in the specialized area of homeowners associations. Joan went to work with Dan Jeffers in 1996, but started in public accounting with Matson and Isom in 1979. Her work in the tax field began there when she transferred to the tax department after getting her audit hours. She worked for MIAC for 11 years then for a medical group for one year, before realizing that public accounting was where she belonged. After nine years with John Powell, CPA, Joan went to work with Dan, because of his emphasis on estate and trust work. Her goal for her clients is to provide a well-rounded tax service, including the accounting process, tax returns, business planning and estate planning

Joan has a number of interests including reading, singing, running and karate. If you mention football to her, you may have your ear bent for awhile about her son, who coaches Football at Butte College. Her daughter works at Stoner, Jeffers & Assoc. and has her own wedding planning business. Joan has served as board president for North Valley Community Foundation and is the current treasurer of Soroptimist International of Chico. Jenni Merrell has been a CPA since 2000. She earned her Bachelor of Science with emphasis in Accounting and Management Information Systems at CSU, Chico in 1998. After graduating she began work at Matson & Isom Accountancy Corporation where she specialized in school audits and individual taxation. In 2001, Jenni transitioned to private accounting and worked for a local non-profit organization. After a year she decided it was time to start a family and took a leave to stay home with her children. In 2008, she realized it was time to return to public accounting and joined Stoner, Jeffers & Associates where she has focused on individual and non-profit tax preparation.

Jenni has two daughters, ages 5 and 7. She is the Treasurer for the Sierra View Elementary PTA. She also teaches preschool classes for CARD. She enjoys reading, movies and crafts. Jenni can be reached at jmmerrell@sbcglobal.net

Linda has worked with Dan Jeffers since May, 1986 (through several business name changes and many different job duties) and with Joan since 1996. She graduated from California State University in 1968 and received an elementary teaching credential the following year. After working a few years and starting a family, she changed direction, and went back to Chico State in 1983 to study accounting.

Linda is a member of Sigma Phi Gamma, a community service organization, and has served as president of the local club, and officer and the chapter and state levels. She volunteers at Chico Country Day School where one of her two grandchildren attend. Her husband, Carl is retired from PG&E.

Tracy joined Stoner, Jeffers and Associates in May 2003. She provides accounting and payroll services and knows the complicated rules of payroll well. Joan originally met Tracy through the Quickbooks class at Butte College, Tracy is the office specialist in Quickbooks accounting. She also prepares individual and business income tax returns.

Tracy’s goal is to finish her AA at Butte College in accounting and continue on to CSU Chico. She is originally from Santa Rosa and has 3 very active boys along with one bull terrier. She also helps Soroptimist International of Chico out with the Home, Garden & Antique Show in her spare time.

Gina has over 20 years experience in accounting and accounting related fields. With more than 10 years specifically in payroll and human resources. She recently joined the office in 2007 after relocating to Chico in 2002. Gina worked as a regional controller for an insurance agency owner group. Since moving to Chico, she has become very active in a number of aspects of the community. Currently she serves as a trustee for her church and a co-chair for Soroptimist International of Chico. Gina is very interested in expanding Elder Care Services for SJA. Having worked at the Terraces and volunteered for the Sonoma County Council on Aging she sees a growing need to help elders, and their families, protect lifetime savings and plan for the optimum use of assets in continuing quality of life. Gina likes to spend time with her Husband and son. She is the proud owner of a one year old adopted wild mustang named Java. She hopes to tame him down and be able to ride him in a couple of years. Sara has worked for the firm since 2008. Sara is a Chicoan – born and raised. She graduated from Butte College in 2000 with her Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. She also attended Chico State and Sonoma State University. Sara is an avid runner. Her fitness goals are to complete her first marathon and then move to triathlons and more marathons. She believes in a healthy lifestyle and enjoys helping others create their own healthy lifestyle. She loves spending time with her dogs, and future plans include creating a place where dogs can go play and get all the loving attention they need. Sara is also an independent business owner, currently building two successful businesses, looking to go international in the near future. Sara’s business is helping others achieve their goals and dreams, such as financial independence, healthier lifestyle, or building more self-confidence in dealing with other people. Her specialties are Health and Nutrition, and Ribbon - Gift and Incentive. Integrity and honesty are values Sara looks for in people she associates with. She thinks it is important to have people around her who are positive, motivated and ambitious. She likes to get things done and enjoys the rest and relaxation when it’s well-deserved. Sassari is our office dog. She is a Springer Spaniel, Labrador, Chow mix. She enjoys running with Joan in Upper Bidwell Park. She loves people food, even broccoli. She is a joy to have at the office. Bring treats when you visit our office, Sassari loves them.

Sassari is joined by Angel, the official office greeter. Angel is a Boxer mix from the Butte Humane Society and is now 11 1/2 years old. Besides meeting you at the door, she is on high-alert for squirrels entering the courtyard.
